Curved planter

This eye-catching scheme consisted of 14 powder coated curved planters surrounding the amphitheatre adjacent to the marketing suite at the prestigious 1 Merchant Square development in  Paddington, London was among our most complicated planter fabrication projects. Although they are of a constant radius, the section heights vary from 1.1m to 0.1m, with the back of each planter 0.3m higher than the front. To complicate matters further, the finished floor surface was on an angle, meaning each section sloped in multiple directions.

Each of the 14 sections measured 2.4m long. This fabrication would have been impossible without our ability to generate 3D models of every section, ensuring all levels were maintained. Our method of connecting the planters below the planting surface ensured the lip detail was continuous around the total radius. The planters were made from galvanised steel: owing to the degree of polishing involved, we applied a zinc primer base layer prior to final powder coating in Tiger Drylac 029/65650 Bronze effect finish. This project was delivered on budget in just three weeks.
